Is It Depression or Sadness?

Nowadays and for many years now, people are using the term depression to express their feelings when they feel under the weather, or just blue. Most people heard or used the term "I'm depressed", but are they really?
Depression is a mental disease which can be caused by an incident or an event that made the person feel sad or really bad. It doesn't start as depression but may evolve into it with time. When people feel they have a bad day or something terrible happened and they feel sad, or bad it doesn't mean they are actually suffering from depression.
Depression is a serious disease which has to be cured, otherwise it can get worse and worse and the person might just give up and wouldn't want to do everyday activities or worse case even may want to lose their life.

Sadness is a temporary feeling, which can disappear after a few min, a few hours, or when worse might take a few weeks. Sadness, as falsely called depression, can be treated easily with simple home remedies anyone can make at home. Even sipping some chamomile tea, or taking a long warm bath is a good remedy to lift the spirit. There are also natural remedies that can be made from veggies and fruit, like apples and honey which adds energy to the body and might make you feel better in no time. In some cases time may be the best cure and it's always good to talk to close people and share your thought and problems. Maybe they will be able to give you an advice, since they know you best or just listen to you while you tell them about your burden.
Living right and enjoying life is the best way to prevent depression; exercise, do activities that you like to do, spend time with the people you love and you will feel better.
When a person is really depressed, not just sad, he feels numb and have no energy to even do the things he used to like doing. Depression is a serious matter and should be treated as such. If you know someone who is depressed or feeling sadness for more than a few weeks, encourage them to get help. They should consult their doctor or psychologist and discuss what needs to be done to get out of this state. Depression can be treated with the right treatment and people should be aware of it and get help. No one should feel bad, there are many different treatments.
There was a time when people were embarrassed to go to a psychologist and some people still might feel like it, because that means they recognize they have a problem. But this is exactly what they should do, first they need to realize they have a problem and that they need help, and there is no shame in it. Close friends can help the person understand there is no shame and that they should go ahead and consult someone professional who can help them.
