In addition to the nutrients, pineapples contains important proteolytic enzymes called bromelain. These enzymes are central in making the pineapple a super health food. Below is a list of health benefits of bromelin and pineapple in general.

Health Benefits:

Relieve constipation and abnormal bowel movement. Pineapples are rich in fiber which is helpful in treating constipation and irregular bowel movement, but, more importantly, the bromelain in pineapple is a powerful digestive enzyme that will help break down proteins and fats.
Promote weight lost! The sweetness will satisfy you cravings while the dietary fiber and vitamins will fill you up.
Reduce risk of hypertension. Hypertension appears when too much stress is employed on the artery walls while the blood circulates. High amounts of potassium and small amount of sodium in your diet can lower blood pressure. Pineapples contain about 1 mg of sodium and 195 mg of potassium.
It is an anti-inflammatory. Bromelain lessen swelling, bruising, and improve healing. For centuries the pineapple has been used for treating skin conditions.
Strengthen bones. Pineapple contains a large amount manganese, which is one of many bone-strengthening minerals. Because of this, it can also be used to reduce arthritis pain.
Boost the immune system. The antioxidants in pineapple, especially vitamin C, will keep your immune system healthy and ready to fight off bacteria and viruses.

Next time when you are craving for something sweet, grab a fresh pineapple. It will satisfy your sweet tooth and improve your health at the same time.
